Happy Tuesday! Long time no see/ post.
It is finally starting to feel like summer in Amsterdam. Sun shining, flowers singing, temps rising – Amsterdam is showing off for her many visitors. Bryan and I are also starting to find a routine (insert praise hands emoji!).
Last week, my oh – so – wonderful mother in – law, Rita (aka nonna), came to town. We LOVED having her. Thank you God for inventing motherhood, because moms/mother in-laws are the best.
I loved having the daytime company while Bryan was at work. We ran a ton of errands, watched a healthy amount of Gilmore Girls episodes, and looked for accessories for the apartment. Rita, Bryan and I also cooked a couple of nights and went to several of our favorite restaurants in the city.
On Saturday, the 3 of us drove up to a fishing island north of Amsterdam, Marken island. Those of you reading from Connecticut (Grama and Hoags!) it felt like the dutch GLP!! From the harbor to the houses, everything felt like Mystic or GLP to me. Even though it was a cloudy day, it was gorgeous and we had the best time exploring.
I am thankful that Rita and David are coming back to Amsterdam in October because it was hard to see her leave.
Bryan and I had a couple of days before our next visitor, Laura, came to town. Laura Dwight is my dear friend Libby’s closest friend in Charlotte. She is currently backpacking around Europe and decided to make a quick, 3 – day stop in Amsterdam!
Laura, Bryan and I had a wonderful time. I love Laura’s adventures spirit, joyful nature, and calming presence. She even joined me for an all girls dinner – she is always up for anything!
Laura and I are in a season of trusting God for our next steps, career – wise. It was encouraging to be able to share my thoughts with someone who completely gets it!
On Laura’s last night, we went on a twilight canal cruise. Laura is off to Iceland today so praying for her safety!
I am learning so much, it is difficult to articulate. God is teaching me what it means to fully trust in His will for my life by being patient. His plans are perfect, and immeasurably better than we can imagine. Thankful that we can rest in Him.
God, Your faithful love is so valuable
that people take refuge in the shadow of Your wings.
—Psalm 36:7
Until next time!
